These were a present to me off one of my dear friends from a trip she made to South Africa, where she found this fabulous gem shop,
in the main shop they had massive collections of almost every semi precious stone you could ever wish for, then in the back yard they have what they call a 'scratch pit' filled with all the 'chips' and you just stand in this 'pit' and literally just 'scratch around; picking whatever stones you like....

The 'Woolies' Pick and mix counter will never seem the same again!!

oooooooooooooh so beautiful. I have a dish of shells like that that Shelley collected on holiday. So many memories. would love to visit that gem pit
