Christmas Crystal baubles earrings

A friend at work asked me if I could make her something 'Christmassy' well I didn't want to be too obvious and make Santa, or snowmen, so found instructions for these crystal baubles which were just the nice size to fit onto ear wires,

If she doesn't want them I guess I'll just have to pretend I have some of the Christmas spirit and wear them myself lol

My Dreamcatcher

Well I finally managed to complete something,

Here at last is my version of the dream catcher,,,

It's not totally finished, as I do not have any leather or suede srips to wrap around the hoop, but apart from that, it's pretty faithful to the original instructions.

As I am very new to beading and beading techniques, I do hope that seeing my efforts might give a few others a little inspiration to have a try at making one.

The hoop is actually a find from a macramé supplies website, it's a plastic shopping bag handle, and was just the right size for this project.

It took lots of patience on my part to do the beading on this, because of my useless eyesight, trying to thread the very fiddly little rocailles needed, but it helped sooo much when I 'discovered' a pack of 'big eye needles', wow do they make a difference.

If you've never tried them, you have got to give them a go,

For those who have never heard of them, they are literally just as the name says, the whole length of the needle is just one 'big eye', it's wonderfully bendy, really tough, and allows you to thread the tiniest of beads.... as you can see....

Colour variations on theme

Same design for each of the six different colours

Just had a little play with my 'chocolate box' of beads and tried out a pair of earrings with the magenta coloured Czech glass beads, and I was so pleased with it (modest little soul that I am!!) I decided to see what the other colours would look like in the same design, I think they've worked reasonably well.

The scan has made the colours a little less bright than they are in real life, but I hope you 'get the picture'

I used 8mm Czech Glass beads, with Tibetan silver bead caps, and that's all, threaded onto silver head pins and attached to the earring wires.

Once I got the initial design put together it took me approx 11/2 hours to make all 6 pairs,

They were so simple and easy to make I might make these into kits for peeps to have a go at if I ever get to do any beading parties.

'Let's Twist Again' #1

Here is a picture of the gorgeous blue/black AB glass spiral beads that gave me the inspiration for my 'Jukebox Jewellery' range of beady stuff.

So here it is folks,

'Let's Twist Again' #1

It was a pack of the gorgeous black AB glass spiral beads on this pendant that gave me inspiration for this range,
(well okay there's only the one piece at the mo. so probably can't be classed as a 'range' just yet!!, but 'acorns and oak trees'. if you know what I mean).

The spiral bead is threaded onto a silver head pin and topped with a blue silver lined glass bugle bead just to give it a bit more depth..which now forms the pendant

That's attached to a Tibetan silver bail bead which I've threaded onto 2mm black waxed cotton cord, then held in place with a surgeon's knot at each side,
I continued with surgeon's knots at either side of the other beads to hold those in place and to create spaces between them along the length of the cord.

I didn't want to add too much other beading as I didn't want to detract from the spiral pendant.

The other beads are:

Tibetan silver twisted tubes,

pearly Ivory round glass,

and black AB square glass.

I haven't finished off the cord ends permanently yet because I still need to decide on the final length to get the right 'balance'

Jukebox Jewellery

I had an idea for a range of beady stuff after buying a pack of big beads which are divine, but I'm not going to show you them just yet...

However, my idea came from trying to think of a name for the piece I'm going to make using these beads, and I came up with a pop song, so I went through my old albums list and thought of lots of oldies that would make really great names, thus, my range will be called 'Jukebox Jewellery', and as soon as I get started on some of them all will become clear. (I hope)

Ummm anybody know how I can keep the name and range for myself, don't know If I'd be ale to copyright it, but I'd like to have the idea of the name safeguarded......

Cat charm book mark

Hi all

I've been so busy with selling shop stuff, I've not had time to do any beading in the last couple of weeks,

but now at last

I finally managed to finish the cat charm that I wanted to borrow other half's Dremel for, and here it is in full glorious technicolour!!

I bought the Tibetan Silver bookmarks from an eBay shop based in China, there were three different designs in the pack of 12, this one is the 'Sun, Moon, and Stars' design, which I thought was the most appropriate for the cat theme.

The little cat charm is a mini Mirror tile, which I needed to drill the hole in to accommodate the bail.....

(Talk about breaking out in a cold sweat, I felt certain I'd end up either drilling through the work bench, or decapitating the poor little pussy cat completely)

I finished it off with a silver lined glass bugle and one black small bicone just for a bit of contrast, it looked a bit monotonous with just the silver and mirror. These were threaded onto an eye-pin then attached to small length of silver chain.

Little Butterfly charm bracelet

Hi, not been on board for a few days, I've been making the most of the last little dregs of an 'Indian

summer' we've been enjoying over the last few days.

(some-one told me that was the sun shining brightly up in the sky..., and here was me thinking we were having some sort of 'ET visitation!!!)

Any way, I made this little bracelet just for something to cheer myself up with over the weekend,

(Sunday 21st was the first anniversary of Jo's funeral, so was a 'tad' downspirited' to say the least)

Turquoise and white glass beads threaded onto beading wire with Tibetan Silver spacers and little butterfly charm to charm a little girl, it's about 61/2 inches in length, though it does fit comfortable on my skinny wrist.

Hope everyone is enjoying the sunshine, though it is a bit chilly now......

'When I'm feeling blue'

Blues and golds fit nicely together for this slightly more sedate necklace.

Dark blue pearls and glass, bicones and gold swirls with a few gold coloured spacers to highlight, and tubes to open it out a little.

I think it worked out not too bad considering I was 'feeling blue; when I made it..... but that's another story.

Pink Pomegranate

A simple but cute, girly necklace, using pink and pomegranate coloured glass beads, and bugles, interspersed with with silver spacers. fastened with a silver barrel clasp.

My Grand Daughter liked the look of this one, so I think it might have to be an extra little Christmas present for her.

Here's one I made earlier

One of my favourite ways of collecting beads is to browse around charity shops, looking for other peoples' 'discards'

Anything that might have 'potential' for my cannibalistic tendencies does not get overlooked!!

I couldn't resist one particular find, of a necklace just far too over laden with half a dozen + red dyed mop discs and redcurrant coloured dangly bits.

It was soon back at my work table, and armed with scissors, and sorting box, beading tools and beading board at the ready, I set to, and designed this much more subtle little number using red seed beads, silver tubes, black bicones, coral tubes and copper coloured coils and spacers as a perfect backdrop to show off the lovely mop pendant.
